We left our campsite late today as it was housekeeping day and then drove to Oban. We went into the town centre which was very busy and bought a crab sandwich from the local seafood shack on the pier. We found a carpark at Tesco Supermarket to park for the night for £10, which is very central to the town centre. We have booked a boat tour for tomorrow to see the Corryvreckan Whirlpool and wildlife. The Gulf of Corryvreckan is a narrow strait between the islands of Jura and Scarba and is famous for its strong tidal currents and standing waves. The whirlpool which forms at the right state of the tide is the third largest whirlpool in the world. After dinner we headed into town to listen to some music at the Oban Inn Hotel. A guy played a mix of 70’s electric and traditional Irish and Scottish acoustic. It was a great night of music and mixing with the locals.
